The quiet one and the talker
Priya collects small things nobody claps for. Zoë talks a great deal. The arrangement is that Zoë reads Priya’s list back to her.

Priya's habit predates the pairing: a running note of things that changed which nobody would think to congratulate her for. Sleeping flat. A ring turning again. Getting off the floor without a plan for getting off the floor.
Her problem was that she did not believe her own list. She would write something down and then privately downgrade it by Wednesday. What Zoë does, and it is close to the whole of the correspondence, is read the list back on Sunday as if it belonged to somebody else, at which point Priya finds it hard to argue with.
This is where a good number of the entries on our milestones page came from, and it is the reason the milestones page has no numbers on it at all.
I write it down and then I talk myself out of it by midweek. She reads it back and I cannot talk her out of it.
Half of them she has already forgotten by Sunday. Getting off the floor unaided, twice, just to check. She forgot that one.
