What a certificate of analysis proves about your vial

16 August 202412 attendedHeld by Sunil

Twelve people and a subject this community discusses because refusing to would simply hand the questions to sellers. I opened as I always do with the two commitments: we broker nothing and help nobody import anything, and we state plainly and repeatedly that buying outside a prescription carries risks this community cannot remove. Then we spent an hour on documents.

What a certificate is

A report on a sample. That is the whole of it, and almost every misunderstanding in this area is a version of forgetting it. A purity figure describes the material that arrived at a laboratory in a tube. It does not describe your vial, it does not describe the batch, and it does not describe a supply chain over time.

We went through what the sections mean. Identity, usually by mass spectrometry, which confirms what a thing is and says nothing about how good it is. Purity by HPLC, which is a proportion under a curve and depends entirely on the method. Water content, which changes the arithmetic. And what is absent from most of these documents, which is sterility and endotoxin, and which is the part that frightens me most.

What came up

The four independent services members use came up by name, as they always do: Janoshik, Medutest, PeptideMeter and VendorInvestigate. They do different things with different methods and different purposes, and treating them as interchangeable seals of approval is the mistake. A test somebody else commissioned, on a sample somebody else chose, is a weaker thing than a test you commissioned yourself, and both are weaker than a licensed supply chain.

Fabian, who reads the label of everything, asked the question that reframed the hour: who chose the sample. In most of the documents circulating, nobody in the room could answer.

Where we left it

With the risk restated, because it is not a formality. Identity, dose accuracy, sterility, contamination, and no recourse if something goes wrong. This community cannot remove any of those and does not claim to. Several members here have gone back to a prescription for exactly that reason and this circle treats that as a reasonable conclusion, not a defection.
