Nan's husband thought it was the easy way out and said so once, badly, and then not again. Gwenda's was frightened rather than disapproving and expressed it as a stream of articles. Neither situation is rare and both were, for a while, extremely lonely.
What they worked out is in when your partner is struggling with it. The short version is that the disapproval is nearly always about something else — cost, fear, a change in the household, a worry about being left behind — and that arguing about the medication never reaches it.
