Mind and meaning

Recovery-aware circle

Carefully facilitated. Recovery-aware does not mean fragile.

This circle is for members with a history of an eating disorder or disordered eating who are taking, considering or coming off a GLP-1 medication. It is the most carefully held space on the site and it works differently: two facilitators are always present, there are no numbers, and conversations that drift into comparison are named out loud.

We will not pretend the tension away. A medication that reduces appetite is not a neutral object in a life that has had a disordered relationship with appetite. Some members find it steadying. Some have found it dangerous. Both are true and anyone who tells you it is simple is selling something.

Who this circle is for

  • You have a history of anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, ARFID or another eating disorder
  • You are in recovery and weighing up whether this is safe for you
  • You are working with a treatment team and want peer company alongside

Agreements here

  • No numbers of any kind — no intakes, no weights, no measurements, no doses framed as achievement
  • No comparison of eating, in either direction
  • Facilitators name restriction talk in the open, once, kindly — and then stay with the person
  • Two facilitators are present in every session; if only one is available the circle does not meet
  • This circle is not a substitute for treatment, and we will always point at real support

On top of the sitewide agreements.
